What parts of the ceremony are you typically involved in?
As a general guideline, twenty minutes of music while your guests are
seated works well. We then play the processional, special music, recessional,
and 10-15 minutes of postlude music while your guests are leaving.
Do you play outdoors?
Yes, we do play outdoors. We require a tent or to be in a spot with
significant shade. Direct sunlight on our instruments can easily cause
the varnish to soften and to become permanently damaged. A 10 x 10
canopy tent is suitable. Precipitation of any kind will prevent us
from performing. In the spring and fall we suggest you have a heated
enclosed space as we will not be able to play if the temperature falls
below 60 degrees.
Will you travel to locations outside of the Twin Cities?
We have traveled across the state of Minnesota and also to South Dakota
and Wisconsin for weddings and receptions. The quartet travels in the
metro area up to 30 miles from downtown Minneapolis for no extra charge.
Please contact us for our fees for distances exceeding 30 miles.
How do I book you?
Please call us, and our manager will check our availability. We then
send out contracts to be returned with the deposit.
How do we pick music for our ceremony?
Our wedding sampler CD contains over 30 pieces of music, both traditional
wedding favorites and some unique selections. It’s a great way
to hear the quality of the group and also to have a reference from
which to help pick pieces for your own event.
Do you collaborate with other musicians?
Yes. We have collaborated with many other musicians, including vocalists,
trumpet players and organists. We usually have a short 10 - 15 minute
rehearsal before the prelude music begins. We would be happy to hire
or recommend additional musicians, if you wish.
Can you play music not on your repertoire list?
Yes. If it is music written for string quartet, there should be no
problem playing it. If it is written for other instrumentation, our
manager will take a look at the music to make sure that it can be easily
translated for string players.
Can you play music specifically composed for the occasion?
Yes. We have played music composed just for an event. We usually have
a short rehearsal before the prelude so the composer can hear what
he/she has written and have the opportunity to make changes and suggestions.
Do you come to our rehearsal?
No, it is not necessary for us to come to a rehearsal. Through our
years of experience, we are able to set cues through a consultation
together that allows us to beautifully coordinate the music with the
parts of your ceremony.
